Pickleball has quickly become one of the most popular sports for people of all ages and abilities. If you enjoy friendly competition, meeting new people, and having fun, you will want to hear about the upcoming local pickleball tournament. This event is designed to bring together players from the Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, Hearing, and ASL student communities and all for a day full of excitement and connection!
The tournament is open to beginner to intermediate skill levels.
The goal is to create a fun and supportive environment where players can enjoy the sport and build friendships.
Proceeds from this tournament will go towards DHCC's mentorship program, to learn more about DHCC's mentorship, and how we are helping support families with Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing children, please visit www.dhcc.org/mentorship-advocacy.
How to Prepare for the Tournament
Practice your skills: Spend time working on your serves, volleys, and footwork. Even a few practice sessions can boost your confidence.
Learn the rules: Familiarize yourself with pickleball rules and scoring to avoid confusion during matches.
Bring the right gear: Wear comfortable athletic clothing and bring your paddle, water bottle, and sunscreen, we recommend bringing a lunch.
Connect with others: Join local pickleball groups or online forums to meet potential teammates or opponents before the event.
What to Expect on Tournament Day
The event will take place at the community sports center, with multiple courts set up for simultaneous matches. Here’s what the schedule looks like:
Registration and warm-up: Arrive early to check in and warm up on the courts.
Round-robin matches: Players will compete in several short social games.
Tournament Bracket: Players will be paired based on skill level for a tournament bracket play with eliminations.
Awards and social time: Winners receive prizes, and everyone is invited to stay for more conversation or potential games.
Throughout the day, there will be volunteers and DHCC staff to assist with communication and ensure the event runs smoothly. The atmosphere will be lively and encouraging, perfect for players and spectators alike.
