(Click here) DHCC Hiring Part- Time ASL Instructor for Philadelphia and Nearby Communities

The role is centered on community ASL classes beginning in Fall 2026, continuing into Winter 2026, and extending beyond those sessions. DHCC plans to offer classes in Philadelphia neighborhoods, including North Philadelphia, South Philadelphia, and Mt. Airy, as well as nearby Pennsylvania communities such as Ardmore, North Wales, Swarthmore, Quakertown, Center Valley, Coopersburg, and Upper Bucks County.

Job Responsibilities:

• Teaches assigned American Sign Language courses.

• Prepare materials for each class, such as a syllabus / lesson plan and handouts.

• Facilitate classroom instruction on topics such as Deaf culture and ASL grammar, vocabulary, and more. 

• Promote Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing cultural competency among students.

• Maintain consistent communication with students and supervisors by sharing class materials and answering emails.

• Participate in instructor training, workshops, meetings, and more.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

• Native fluency in American Sign Language and close familiarity with Deaf culture and history.

• Must be able to provide/secure clearances for Child Abuse, Criminal Background, FBI fingerprints, mandatory training, etc.

• Ability to work with diverse groups of students with different learning needs. 

• Previous teaching experience preferred.

• Starting pay 35/hr.

• Part-Time | Non-Exempt Position | Not Benefits-Eligible
