The Deaf-Hearing Communication Centre (DHCC) is dedicated to providing information to Deaf, hard of hearing and hearing individuals and their family and friends, to assist them in obtaining needed services and technology and in making informed decisions. For example, DHCC maintains up-to-date resource material about specialized programs and services for Deaf and hard of hearing people such as the Deaf Services Center and Valley View Assisted Living. We have catalogues from various manufacturers of technical devices and sign language materials.

We receive many calls inquiring about hearing aids and assistance to finance hearing aids. We refer callers to organizations that may help them. We know of programs that loan devices to consumers to try before they buy and can refer callers to those programs.

While we provide services in the Philadelphia region, we have information about resources outside our area that have similar services to DHCC to share with the caller.

We share information on the various message relay and video relay services and how to contact them. We have information about Captel and voice-over relay services for deaf and hard of hearing people who speak for themselves.

Our library houses information about new trends such as cochlear implants and baby sign classes for hearing mothers and babies. Our resource files are filled with current legislation and how to use them such as the Americans with Disabilities Act and how to advocate or file a complaint and The PA Interpreter Law and how to register with ODHH.

We are members of many local, state and national organizations and receive newsletters and email updates with valuable information about professional development opportunities, conferences, and events. We share some of this information quarterly in our newsletter the Communicator.

DHCC welcomes the opportunity to serve you and answer your questions. Please contact us at 610-604-0450 (Voice/TTY) or email info@dhcc.org with any questions.
